ROAD TRIP TO BANFF, CANADA. OCTOBER 2023

I fell in love with Canadian Rockies back on my first visit to Banff earlier in august, 2023. So I really wanted to see Canadian landscapes in the fall season. So I asked Sasha if she wanted to go on the road trip adventure, she said yes and it turned out to be the greatest experience! I discovered that after October, 15 it’s the best time to visit most popular places, like Lake Moraine, Lake Louise, Athabasca Glacier and other places with less stress and much more pleasure, as it’s off season, most attractions are closed, and many roads are closed for vehicles, so the only ways to get to the places are by walking or biking, and that is why there are much less people everywhere, so you have great opportunities to find serenity in this picturesque places and fully enjoy them. Same with camping’s!

We camped in the Lake Louise camping area, a luxury location only minutes away by driving to Lake Louise and the Village, with clean, spacious warm bathroom and hot showers. Our camp spot had a picnic table and firepit. So we stayed there 2 days and 2 nights and explored the area. We went on a hike to Lake Louise, fascinating views from every angle, breathtaking landscapes, misty mountains and turquoise color of the lake made our day magical. Couldn’t wish for more. The next day we rented bikes and headed out to Lake Moraine. The ride was beautiful in all ways! I felt like a child on a bike, such pure, happy feelings I had. When we arrived at our destination, the view of the lake and mountains opened up and blew our minds away! We just stood there, speechless and for the moment I felt that serenity, peace and power of nature. I still feel this moment in my heart. There were a few more people, and at some point it was just two of us in the whole place. Miracle.

Next day we started our next journey to Jasper National Park. We drove through one of the most beautiful and picturesque highways in the World! Banff to Jasper highway 93. Distance of 288 km we drove for 9 hours! On the way we made several stops at scenic and iconic places, like Herbert Lake, Bow Lake, Peyto Lake, Athabasca Glacier and other spots. We also watched a black bear right on the highway shoulder. It was calm and eating grass. It was so close to us, but we felt safe; such a great experience to witness wildlife in their habitat. I wanted to visit Athabasca Glacier for a long time, and when I finally arrived there, the scenery amused me! It was cold and windy up there, as this glacier has its own weather, but it didn’t bother me at all! I was so excited to be there, to see it with my own eyes, to feel its power, that the weather did not distract me at all. Nor the people! Can you imagine standing on the Athabasca Glacier just by yourself in the whole place? Just you, ice and mountains! I did not think it’s possible, but when it’s off season, you may get very lucky to have such iconic places just for yourself. While I was observing the glacier, mountains were whispering to me, I listened to them, I felt them, their power, my whole body was murmuring inside of this excitement. I definitely want to come back there next off season!
